Brookwood Student Ministry exists to show teenagers the love of God, true family, and how to reach the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. At the end of the day, our mission is to send students out ready for the road ahead.
We believe that relationships within The Word are important and our entire Sunday mornings revolve around that. Student Small Groups help achieve that purpose: help point students back to their relationship with God, speak the truth to them in love, and guide them in His Word (the most everlasting gift we have – see 1 Peter 1:24-25). We regularly break out into small groups so that students can safely process what God is teaching them. We also make prayer a priority, taking time each week to get to know the needs and concerns of each student so that we can lift them up to God. Sunday morning Small Groups also help students in their relationships with each other, providing fresh donuts, an atmosphere of fun, and quality leaders each week! We hope to see you there!
Come to Brookwood Student Worship Services and experience community like you've never felt it before. Expect positive relationships, joy together, biblical teaching, and great leaders (who care about students). Most of all, we want God to be glorified in all that we say and do. We have a great time together! Students, in addition to intentional activities, will also have a chance to join a small group on Wednesday nights (alongside their peers and led by hand-picked adult volunteers). Our Student Minister, Daniel, will always preach a biblical lesson and seek to pour into students. We hope to see you on a Wednesday night!
Disciple Now is a weekend of spiritual guidance, worship, and fellowship for Brookwood Students and their friends the weekend of November 20-22. We want students to know Christ as a “strong and trustworthy anchor for their souls” (Hebrews 6:19), even when storms of life come with fury. Students, this weekend is for you. We will be following social distancing guidelines and constantly evaluating best safety practices.
Our speaker for the weekend is Vince Smith. He is the Lead Pastor of The Circle Church of Alexandria. Vince studied at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and has 10+ years of experience in student ministry and preaching the Word. Fun Fact: He used to be a student pastor!
Jackson Taylor will be leading worship for us throughout the weekend. He is the Worship Leader at Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe. Jackson has 5+ years of experience in leading worship and he regularly leads DNOW weekends.
Fun Fact: He used to work at Chick-fil-A!
We are still in need of awesome adult volunteers! Available service opportunities include:
- Host homes to house a small group of students for the weekend
- Small group leaders to teach Bible study lessons and connect with students
- Registration team members to assist in organization and hospitality
- Rec staff to bring the energy and direct our fun programming
Adults, we would love to have your help if you feel led! Students, you don’t want to miss this event! Sign up today!
All middle and high school girls! You should join us for a time of painting pumpkins and more fall fun on November 13 from 6:30-8:30pm in Room 219. We will have a contest to see who's pumpkin turns out the best. There will be door prizes, snacks, and more! Remember to bring your own pumpkin! SIGN-UP HERE
I was born and raised in East Texas, growing up in church from a young age. We were at church every time there was an open door! Through this all, I fell into disobedience and hypocrisy; it is possible to be a church-attender but not a follower of God.
Students need people who will show them how to follow God. They need encouragement from someone that cares. Christ’s love compels me (2 Corinthians 5:14-15) to help young people in this journey of faith. At Brookwood Student Ministry, we help mend broken relationships, reach out to the least of these, encourage spiritual growth, build events that draw students to God, disciple students in both small and large group settings, and raise up leaders who can do the same. Our goal is to encourage students to be the men and women God called them to be (Ephesians 4:14-16). We believe we can do this, all while having joy, living life, and connecting with students where they’re at!
My wife, Summer, and I met in Memphis Tennessee in 2015 - both doing youth ministry at the time. We were married in 2016. She is my best friend and the best partner anyone could ask for. Our son, Jacob, was born in 2018 and we hope and pray he uses his relationship with God one day to be a beacon of light to others who are struggling. Our daughter, Ellie, was born in August of 2020 and has added joy to our little family! We enjoy a good laugh, eatin’ some Cajun food, and spending quality time with others. Hope to see you around!
