30 Hour Famine
Our student ministry will be doing an event called the 30 Hour Famine, November 22-23, to raise money for World Vision.
We need adult volunteers who can do the following:
- Drive students around to different service projects and tasks. You can participate in these projects. It is an eye opener every year to see the needs in our own community!
- If possible, be there from start to finish which is 8:30am on Saturday, November 22 – Sunday morning after church. We are staying outside in a “homeless shelter.”
- Fast for 30 hours (we provide juice and water). If you do not stay the whole time, please fast while you are volunteering unless you have a medical condition. (hunger is not a medical condition!)
- Raise money for World Vision.
If you can’t be an adult sponsor as described above, we need donations of juice and will need breakfast items on Sunday
morning. The mission verse for our student missions is 1 John 3:18. Let us not love with words or tongue but with
actions and in truth. You can show support of our students by volunteering in some way for this event.

Celebrate Recovery
The Bible clearly states that "all have sinned." It is our very nature to do so. And because of sin, we've all
hurt ourselves, we've all hurt other people, and others have hurt us. This means each of us is in need of
repentance and recovery in order to live the way God intended.
Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program for helping people overcome their hurts, habits, and hang-ups,
using 8 principles based on the Beatitudes of the New Testament and 12 biblical steps to recovery. Through this program,
people have restored and developed stronger relationships with others and with God.
Brookwood is considering launching Celebrate Recovery in early 2009. Please let us know
if you have any experience in a recovery group (like AA) and/or would be interested in helping provide leadership to this
ministry. Also let us know if you might be interested in participating in this ministry.
